Global online money transfer service WorldRemit says its customers in Zimbabwe will continue to access United States dollars in cash.
On Monday, Zimbabwe banned use of foreign exchange for domestic transactions.
Under Statutory Instrument 142 of 2019, domestic transactions will be settled using the Zimbabwe Dollar.
Reports then suggested that foreign currency account holders would no longer access their deposits in cash and that locals who receive money via transfer services would have their balances converted to the domestic currency.
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe has assured companies and individuals of continued access to FCAs.
WorldRemit Country Director (Zimbabwe) Mr Pardon Mujakachi told ZTN News on Wednesday, “We would like to reassure our customers that we are continuing to offer our guaranteed cash pickup service in US dollars to Zimbabwe.”
