The number of people placed under surveillance for coronavirus in Zimbabwe has risen to 741, up from 506 reported on Tuesday.
Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo revealed the latest statistics on Wednesday during an inter-Ministerial Taskforce meeting on the corona virus in Harare.
“Yesterday we were talking of 506 visitors who are being followed. Today the figure has gone up to 741 travelers who came from affected countries and passed through our ports of entry,” he said.
He said all measures are being taken to ensure that constant monitoring is being done at all ports of entry.
A special unit is being set up at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals to serve as a national command centre for mitigation measures.
The disease has claimed almost 500 lives in China, where the first cases were reported.
A number of cases have been confirmed in several countries across the world.
