PRIVATE schools in Zimbabwe that opened before the official date could have their operating licences revoked, the Government has said.
The second term will begin on July 28, with examination classes being prioritised.
The Primary and Secondary Education Ministry says some privately-owned schools and colleges have, however, opened.
Education Minister Cain Mathema said on Friday: “The ministry would like to warn authorities of Trust schools, private schools and independent colleges that flout the directive that it will not hesitate to deregister their institutions should they continue defying Government directives on the opening of school.”
Minister Mathema cautioned that reopening schools outside prescribed procedures may endanger the lives of both pupils and teachers.
