More than 450 non-governmental organizations are facing deregistration in Zimbabwe over failure to fulfil their mandates. Some of them have been dormant for a while. Government has since published names of the organizations in question.

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister Professor Paul Mavima told ZTN News that the dormant Private Voluntary Organisations are being deregistered because they have failed to deliver.

“Why do we continue to register them when they are dormant? They are not doing anything. When they registered, they stated the things they were going to take care of but they are not doing anything with regards to those mandates. It is necessary that they get deregistered,” he said.
