Accident claims one life

A man died on the spot Monday morning along Bulawayo road near White House in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare when a haulage truck he was travelling in veered off the road and overturned. 

The truck was trying to avoid a collision with a private car that had made a sudden turn in front of it at the White House turn off, 16 Kilometres from the city centre.

The owner of the truck, Tendai Mutupfa confirmed the accident and said the vehicle was hauling seed maize valued US$2 million and was travelling towards the Harare central business district when a Mercedes Benz encroached.

Upon seeing danger the driver ,who got injured, in the accident veered to the right to avoid ploughing into people waiting for transport along the road.

As he tried to get back on the road he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned killing the assistant driver on the spot.

Some people at the scene of the accident implored authorities to put traffic control signs at the accident scene.
