All is set for the Kariba Sports Tourism Experience slated for March 25 to 27, in the resort town of Kariba.
EcoTourism Africa and Sports Tourism Public Relations and Marketing Director, Malvin Kanjere, told ZTN that the event, which focuses on social sport and tourism, will feature eleven sporting disciplines.
“There is quite a lot to expect in Kariba that is different from the previous Victoria Falls event. In this edition, we have more sports which include basketball, netball, volleyball and beach volleyball,” said Kanjere.
The Victoria Falls Sports Tourism Experience was held from September 24 to 26, last year and a total of 500 tourists attended.
Other sporting activities on offer include soccer, fun run and aerobics, rugby, tug of war, pool, futsal and mountain biking.
Kanjere added that Kariba will also offer more in terms of water activities, compared to Victoria Falls, including Bream Fishing Fun Tournament, Island party, speed boating and water slides.
“This time we have what we call the Gin and Tonic Cruise which is going to be way much improved and exciting.”
He also said safari buses, which come with a guide, have been introduced and participants will be taken on a tour of Kariba, starting from Chinhoyi.
“We are also going to have a welcome cocktail party which we did not have last time,” said Kanjere.
The Kariba Sports Tourism Experience will be confined to two villages unlike the previous event where people were scattered all over, to allow for more interaction.
“We will observe all Covid-19 regulations as we do not want an outbreak of the disease.”
The Kariba Sports Tourism Experience, which had been scheduled for December 18 to 22, 2021, was postponed to March this year.
