Armed robbers granted bail

High Court Judge Justice Benjamin Chikowero has granted notorious armed robber Musa Taj Abdul (47) and his two co-accused Godfrey Mupamhanga (27) and Rudolf Tapiwa Kanhanga (29) bail. Abdul had been on the police top wanted list for 20 years. He is alleged to have committed 53 armed robberies and several murder cases.

The trio were arrested on August 24 in Beitbridge where they were being shelteredby a member of the police force, with five others Charles Lundu (47), Tapiwa Mangoma (27), Innocent Jairosi (32), Prince Makodza (31), and Liberty Mupamhanga (29).

Adbul and Mupamhanga were granted $5 000 bail each while Kanhanga was released on $2 000 bail.

As part of their bail conditions, the trio were ordered to reside at their given address in St Martins and report at Sunningdale 2 Police Station every Friday between 6 am and 6 pm and not to interfere with any state witnesses until the matter has been finalised.

The trio and their accomplices are facing several charges of armed robbery. Theyare also wanted over robbers and murders in Botswana and South Africa.
