Liquor retailing outlets in Zimbabwe can now resume operations under strict regulations and conditions , Cabinet resolved on Tuesday.

One of the conditions is that no liquor will be consumed on the outlets’ premises.

Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa told journalists during a post Cabinet media briefing on Tuesday that the decision follows representations from the Liquor Retailers’ Association.

She said, “Cabinet resolved that operations could resume in line with COVID-19 regulations and on condition that no liquor is consumed at their premises”.

Supermarkets were the only outlets permitted to sell liquor since Zimbabwe went on lockdown in March this year.

Bars and nightclubs have not been allowed to operate, while restaurants have resumed business.
