CHARLTON Athletic striker Macauley Bonne has been ruled out of Zimbabwe’s Afcon qualifier against Botswana at the National Sports Stadium on Friday.

Bonne was set for his debut in this tournament after he was issued with a Zimbabwean passport last week.

Indications from the Warriors technical team on Monday were that the player has been “excused to undergo some medicals at his club”.

“So he is out of the game along with Kadewere (Tinotenda). We will not be replacing those two players. We will work with the 22 players that we already have,” Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare told ZTN sport.

Bonne was one of the few UK-based players that was retained in the trimmed 24-man squad.

The developments come at a time when there is speculation that the player’s management still thinks he can make it into the England squad in the near future.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba is expected to join the Warriors on Tuesday.

This is after he featured for his club in a 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Sunday.

Locally-based players and most South Africa-based players are expected to join camp on Monday.
