Breaking: Lt Gen Chimonyo dies

 DEFENCE Minister Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri has confirmed the death of Commander Zimbabwe National Army, Lieutenant-General Edzai Absalom Chakanyuka Chimonyo.

Lt Gen Chimonyo died this morning after a long battle with cancer.

“Yes it’s true he has passed on … we are going to make an official statement soon,” said Minister Muchinguri Kashiri.

Lt Gen Chimonyo assumed command of the ZNA in 2018 after the promotion of General Philip Valerio Sibanda to Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces.

Before that he was Zimbabwe’s ambassador to Tanzania.
