Zim schools, Universities close on Tuesday

Schools, Colleges, Polytechnics and Universities in Zimbabwe will close on Tuesday March 24, in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement on Thursday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said the early closure of educational institutions was a precautionary measure against Coronavirus.
He said the dates of opening for the Second term will be announced in due course after the threat of the virus recedes.
“The decision is part of the general precautionary measures the country is taking in light of the world wide outbreak and rapid outbreak of the Coronavirus,” the President said.
Zimbabwe is yet to record a case of Coronavirus, but has already adopted a number of precautionary measures against the disease.
On Tuesday President Mnangagwa declared the virus a national disaster.
Gatherings of more than 100 people have been outlawed, while unnecessary travel to and from the county is being discouraged, among other measures.
