Brothers in the dock for raping eleven-year-old

Two brothers from Mabvuku, a town east of Zimbabwe’s capital, Harare, have appeared before a Harare Magistrate Dennis Mangosi for raping an eleven-year-old girl.

Prosecutors said Do-it and Webster Musanhu violated the girl on several occasions while her father was away on
night duty.

The court heard that sometime in January this year, Webster went to the complainant’s home during the night. He entered into the house whose door was not locked, while the complainant’s father had gone to work. Webster then went to the complainant’s bedroom and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.

The court also heard that in December last year, Webster’s brother, Do-it Musanhu, also went to the complainant’s home, had sexual intercourse with her without her consent and promised to give her money. During the same month, he repeatedly went to the complainant and had sex with her.

Neighbours quizzed her after noticing the two men, aged 23 and 18 years respectively, leaving the home late at night.

The brothers were remanded in custody to the 6 th of May and will apply for bail at the high court.
