Council employees in Bulawayo are back at their workstations after receiving a whooping 150 percent salary increment.
The employees had been on industrial action for a week.
With COVID-19 deaths on the rise, the city was gravely affected after grave diggers also downed tools.
According to unions, the lowest paid worker was earning ZWL$1900.
Apart from the 150 percent salary increment, every employee will now get a flat fee of ZWL$2,000 increase on a special cost of living allowance.
Zimbabwe Urban Councils Workers Union (ZUCWU) Bulawayo chairman Ambrose Sibindi said; “We met management of the city on Monday with regards to our low salaries. We did not get what we wanted in terms of figures. We reached a compromise since we were negotiating.”
