ENGLISH Premiership side Chelsea have sacked manager Frank Lampard after 18 months in charge.

Former PSG and Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is favorite to take over.

The former champions had so far experienced an inconsistent run in the league and are ninth on the table.

Last week’s defeat to Leicester seemed to have been the final nail on the 42-year-old’s future.

That they have won once in their past five league matches, goes to show what has so far been a dry spell for the blues.

And not even Sunday’s 3-1 FA Cup fourth round win against Championship side Luton could save Lampard at a club known for their ruthlessness when it comes to firing coaches.

Lampard was appointed on a three-year contract when he replaced Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge in July 2019.

He guided them to fourth place and the FA Cup final in his first season in charge.
