Chibuku Super Cup Bounces Back

… As SRC clears Football, Rugby

SPORTS and Recreation Commission has given Zimbabwe football the green light to resume along with eight other sporting disciplines.
The decision will see Chibuku Super Cup bouncing back while the COSAFA team has been cleared to start preparations under the agreed strict Covid-19 protocols.
The developments come at time when sport had received a blanket ban in the past weeks over increasing Covid-19 cases in the country, with non contact sport only cleared last week.
An appeal to SRC was then made by the different associations, including cricket and rugby, for government to consider their situation.
“… The Zimbabwe Football Authority has also been granted authority to resume the Chibuku Super Cup games and to undertake training camps for the national football teams in preparation for their participation at the COSAFA Cup in July 2021,” read the SRC confirmation letter.
The Chibuku Super Cup had reached the halfway stage, marking the return of local football after a year of inaction.
The SRC confirmation letter will also see the Cheetahs, Sables and Chevrons continue with their upcoming international assignments.
