Harare City Council’s parking management subsidiary, City Parking, has announced revised on-street fees parking of ZWL$50 per hour.

The fees take effect today.

Parking tariffs had initially been pegged at $1 United States dollar per hour or the Zimbabwe Dollar equivalent, a fortnight ago.

But the local authority climbed down following a public outcry.

City Parking’s Spokesperson Francis Mandaza told ZTN that the latest review in tariffs had been necessitated by inflationary pressures which were driving overhead costs.

“The City of Harare and City Parking carried out extensive consultations with stakeholders and came to the position we have announced. It is also important to note that the motoring public will be charged ZWL$45 if they pay via our parking application available on IOS and Android,” Mandaza said in a telephone interview.

This follows a March fee hike from ZWL$10 to ZWL$20.

This is the third time parking tariffs are being adjusted upwards in Zimbabwe’s capital.
