Cops Injured, Kombis Burnt In Bulawayo Clashes

Two commuter omnibuses were burnt to shells in Zimbabwe’s second largest city, Bulawayo earlier today (Wednesday) following clashes between police and illegal foreign currency traders.
Five police officers were injured in the clashes. Our Bulawayo bureau confirmed the incident which took place along Fort Street between 6th and 5th avenue in the Central Business District.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Abedneco Ncube said he was not in office and was yet to get a report of the incident. However acting chief fire officer for the city Mr Linos Phiri confirmed the incident but could not give further details.
“My guys are still there and am yet to get more information on it,” Mr Phiri said.
It is not yet clear how the two vehicles got burnt.
