Cyclone Idai: First Lady mobilises help for victims

Zimbabwe’s First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa and her organization, Angel of Hope Foundation, have mobilized resources to help Cyclone Idai survivors in the eastern parts of the country.

Some of the goods mobilized under the Poto neNdiro (pots and plates) campaign, include food, kitchen utensils, blankets, clothes, sanitary wear and toiletries, among other basic needs.
This is the second phase of the campaign, which was initiated after the First Lady’s visit to the Cyclone Idai affected areas earlier this year.
It is estimated that about 250,000 people in seven districts of Zimbabwe were directly affected by Cyclone Idai, which made landfall in Zimbabwe on March 15, 2019, severely disrupting livelihoods and worsening the critical food situation in the affected areas.
The Poto neNdiro campaign is also supported by various churches in the country.
