With Zimbabwe’s lockdown restrictions easing from level four to level two, health experts have emphasized the need for people to stay on their guard.

On Tuesday, Zimbabwe president Emmerson Mnangagwa announced that business operating hours will now be from 8am to 7pm and enforced curfew times from 10 pm to 5am.

Intercity travel is permitted while gatherings are limited to just 100 people.

World Health Organization, country representative, Dr Alex Gasasira said people should remain cautious.

“The lockdown measures have been relaxed but we all have responsibility to continue to comply with preventive measures. And to tell all around us in our communities to continue to comply with preventive measures.

“All of us have the opportunity to get vaccinated and we should get vaccinated. If we all comply with this, we will keep transmission very low and we will avoid a situation where another lockdown will be considered,” he said.
