Zimbabwe’s senior men’s football team, the Warriors, has ended the year on a high note, climbing two places up the Fifa Coca Cola World Rankings to position 111.
The Warriors began 2019 on position 113 with 1 175 points and gained five points throughout the year to land at 1 180 points.
In the period under review, Sunday Chidzambwa led the team to the finals of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) with a 2-0 victory over Congo in March.
Chidzambwa’s charges then failed to impress at the Afcon tournament where they picked a point in a 1-1 draw against DRC while losing 1-0 and 4-0 to Egypt and DRC, respectively.
Joey Antipas took over from Chidzambwa, guiding the team through the preliminary stages of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and two 2021 Afcon qualifiers.
Leading the Fifa World Rankings is Belgium with 1765 points followed by France and Brazil with 1733 and 1712 points, respectively.
