Zimbabwe’s ex-principal director in the Office of the President and Cabinet (State Residences) Douglas Tapfuma has been imprisoned for four years for criminal abuse of office.
Six of his vehicles were also forfeited to the State.
Magistrate Esthere Chivasa delivered the sentence in the capital, Harare, on Friday, setting aside two of the initial six years.
Magistrate Chivasa suspended the two years on condition he does not commit a similar crime within five years.
Prosecutors proved that Tapfuma imported a minibus and sedan vehicle riding on a bill of entry solely used to import the President’s personal goods.
He also imported a second minibus and five smaller vehicles in 2018.
