CAPS United’s league title fight could be derailed if four of their players are found guilty of assaulting match officials after the Chicken Inn game in Bulawayo.

Ronald Chitiyo, John Zhuwawo, Carlos Rusere and Dominic Chungwa can potentially get bans depending on the outcome of a PSL disciplinary hearing set for November 13.

A penalty awarded at the last minute separated the Zimbabwe PSL giants and Chicken Inn on October 23 at Barbourfields stadium, leading to confrontations and the alleged attack on match officials.

“The players are being charged for breaching Order 31 of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Rules and Regulations…,” said the PSL on Friday in their summons.

CAPS United will also stand before the disciplinary committee to answer to acts of “violence, missile throwing and match distabances” witnessed in that game.

CAPS United are top of the PSL log with 51 points, only two ahead of the champions FC Platinum who are doing everything to defend their title.

If the affected four CAPS United players get bans of any sort, it could be difficult for the 2016 champions to maintain momentum with five games remaining before the season ends.
