Friday October 25, a public holiday

The Zimbabwean Government will declare Friday October 25 an official Public holiday, a cabinet Minister has said.

The country will, on the day, hold an anti-sanctions march in the Capital Harare.

This follows a resolution by SADC countries to declare 25 October a day against-sanctions imposed by the West on Zimbabwe.

Acting Information Minister Professor Amon Murwira told a post cabinet media briefing on Monday, that a number of activities are lined for Friday’s event.

“To further amplify the importance of this day to the economic emancipation and well-being of Zimbabwe, Friday 25 October 2019 shall be declared an official public holiday,” said Prof Murwira

A football match between Highlanders and Dynamos and a music gala are part of the activities lined up for the day.

Marchers are expected to meet at 6am at Robert Mugabe square in Harare for a procession which will end at the national sports stadium where the official proceedings will take place.

Similar activities are expected to take place at Provincial and District levels across the country
