Gara Mumba train gathers steam

ZTN’s “Gara Mumba Iwe” musical shows are proving popular by the day. The performances that feature various musicians from diverse genres, including Zimdancehall, hip hop and Sungura among others, are an answer to entertainment-starved Zimbabweans due to the current lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The musicians are invited to the ZTN studios where they are sanitised, get temperature checks and asked to observe strict measures of social distancing.
The shows are streamed live across the world on social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube.
Last night’s show , dubbed “Garamumba Iwe 4”, featured hip-hop artistes Stunner and Mudiwa Hood, musicians under the Chillspot records stable including Ndunge Yut, Jah Master and Uncle Epatan, as well as Mbeu who serenaded music lovers with mature Afro-jazz music deep into the night.
The show’s Facebook views were nearing 200 000 by midday on Thursday.
Show sponsor, Passion Java said he was pleased with the response to the musical performances and promised to continue supporting them.
“I am so excited about tonight’s performance. I just want to say thank you Zimbabwe. The performance was great, this success was just phenomenal. We have another programme lined up for next week”, he said.
Among the big stars who have performed during the lockdown concerts so far are Winky D, Alick Macheso, Sulumani Chimbetu, and Soul Jah Love.
