Gems target African Gold

ZIMBABWE netball coach Lloyd Makunde says his girls are now targeting conquering the continent at the Netball African Championships in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Gems had a good run at the World Cup finals in Liverpool and are now looking at asserting themselves as the queens of the continent.

“Our target is winning the African championships. We cannot have another target, other than winning gold in this competition,” said Makunde.

The Gems coach however, appealed for support from the corporate world to help prepare the team for major tournaments.

The team is supposed to go into camp and will need maximum support to produce desired results.

“We need as much support as possible in preparation for the competitions, if we get more support than we had at the World Cup, it will be a plus for us”, Makunde said.

The coach is also expected to announce the final traveling squad before departure on Wednesday.
