Gilpin starts preps in Tokyo

ZIMBABWEAN rower Peter Gilpin has started preparations for the olympic games in Tokyo.

The Olympics opening ceremony takes place next Friday, the 23rd of July.

Gilpin flew into Tokyo from the United Kingdom on the 14th of July along with his coach James Alexander Stephenson.

Swimmers, Donato Katai and Peter Weltzar leave on the 17th of July.

The remaining two team members, golfer Scott Vincent and sprinter, Ngoni Makusha are set to leave for Tokyo on the 21st and the 22nd of July, respectively.

In addition to Gilpin and his coach, the lead team that is already in Tokyo ahead of the delegation registration meeting comprises of the following:

Frederick Ndlovu, Vice President of the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC), Abigail Munikwa, the Covid-19 Liaison officer and physiotherapist, Mrs Memory Pakati, Team Admin and assistant Covid-19 Liaison.
