Glendale Woman Up For Three Counts Of Armed Robbery

A 39-year-old Mazowe woman, has appeared before the courts facing three counts of armed robbery.

Investigators heard that sometime in 2021 on different occasions Norest Trinity Kufa, acting in connivance with her accomplices Edwin Muchagwa, Ronald Nyangani, and Checksmore Godza who have already been arrested and two others who are still on the run, planned to rob Rejoice Maduapela of his property and Kufa supplied the firearm to her accomplices.

The gang went ahead and stole the complainant’s car. After the robbery they proceeded to Kufa’s house where they handed back the firearm to Kufa and also gave her the stolen car as payment for the use of the firearm.

On June 20 2021, the gang went and robbed another family portraying themselves as homicide officers who were doing indications with a thief. They got away with valuables worth USD$10 000 and a Mercedes Benz. The stolen vehicle was later recovered from Kufa’s house.

The court also heard that on the 29th of November Kufa together with her crew pretending to be officers from CID Vehicle Theft Squad, purported to be making enquiries about a vehicle engine the complainant had sold that day. When they got access into the premises they stole cash and a Nissan Sylphy vehicle.

Kufa’s accomplices were arrested on the 1st of December, leading to the recovery of valuables. On the 24th of December another gang member Edwin Muchagwa was arrested and this led to the recovery of the firearm used to commit the offence at Kufa’s house.

Kufa who has been on the run since December, was arrested on the 15th of February.

Harare Magistrate Yeukai Dzuda remanded Kufa in Custody to the 3rd of March and advised her to apply for bail at the high court.
