Gvt commits to social dialogue

Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Minister, Professor Paul Mavhima says Government will prioritise social dialogue in 2020 which is important in the implementation of the Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP) and guiding the country’s growth towards an upper middle income economy.

Prof Mavhima was officiating at a two-day International Labour Organisation (ILO) tripartite retreat in Victoria Falls.

He said there is need to resuscitate meaningful dialogue at the TNF and help restore good relations among the tripartite partners in order to provide a conducive environment with relevant policy frameworks that are guided by the Kadoma declaration. The document seeks to move the country towards a shared national economic and social vision.

Professor Mavhima said the second republic also strives to create decent jobs and uphold the rule of law through the Zimbabwe decent work country programme.

ILO country director for Zimbabwe and Namibia, Ms Hopolang Phororo challenged TNF parties to encourage social dialogue.

Various partners to the TNF attended the workshop which started on Monday.
