TWO suspected armed robbers believed to be part of a gang that had been terrorising residents in and around Belvedere, Harare, appeared in court on Wednesday morning.

They are facing five counts of armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.

Ngonidzashe Bulawayo and Benjamin Madungwe were arrested on Monday night by members of the neighbourhood watch committee and found in possession of a CZ pistol, three fully loaded magazines, dog poison, various housebreaking equipment and a security services driverā€™s licence.

Police managed to recover firearms, ammunition and personal properties of complainants and are yet to recover more items that were sold to second-hand dealers within Harare’s Central Business District.

However, the police applied for a warrant of further detention for the accused to assist the police in recoveries and with indications.

The two will return to court on Friday after police requested further detention to facilitate investigations.
