Harare Mayor Gets $40 000 Bail

Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume has been granted bail in a case in which he is facing charges of bribery and defeating the course of justice.

High Court judge, Justice Benjamin Chikowero ordered Mafume to report to police every Friday, reside at his registered home address and not to interfere with witnesses, as part of his bail conditions.

Mafume was arrested in December last year after he attempted to bribe a witness, Edgar Dzehonye, who was supposed to testify in another case where he is accused of criminal abuse of office involving the allocation of residential stands.
