Harare Rugby League Gets Boost

Harare Province Rugby League sponsors Paramount Garment Works have unveiled the new field equipment which will be used at the five main stadia “hosting clubs” in the province, once the coronavirus pandemic restrictions ease.

The Harare Province Rugby Board received a truckload of 20 post pads, 40 corner flags, 30 x 22- meter field markers, 30 x 50meters field markers, and 25 match days’ balls for the upcoming 2021 rugby season.

Paramount Garments’ league five main rugby fields will be Machinery Exchange stadium [H.S.C], Old Hararians [O.H], Old Georgians {O.G’s] and XP Horns Rugby stadium in Belgravia with the Alex sports club field To be Announced.

Harare province Rugby Board chairman and Zimbabwe Rugby Union board member Joe Kawonza said the development is important for the season’s preparations.

“On behalf of the Harare Rugby Board I would like to thank paramount garments for this kind sponsorship gesture. This will go a long way in getting our stadia ready for our eventual return to the rugby field, post the Covid-19 pandemic.’’

The financial director of Paramount Garment Works, Mr Jeremy Youmans said the partnership is key to the development of rugby in Harare.

“We strongly believe that this sponsorship and partnership with Harare Rugby will empower the clubs to make their stadia safe, secure, and attractive to their players and fans, creating ripples that spell progress not just for clubs and their stadia, but the country as well.’’

Zimbabwe Rugby Chief Executive Officer Sifiso Made said club rugby could return to Zimbabwe in December with regards to training, with the season expected to start possibly in 2021.
