The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has assured the public that it is fully prepared for the
upcoming by-elections for the National Assembly and local authorities.
With the elections scheduled for December 2 and 9, ZEC has already printed a total of 266,150 ballot
papers for the National Assembly by-election and 99,150 ballot papers for the local authorities.
In an interview, ZEC deputy chairperson Ambassador Rodney Kiwa expressed confidence in their
preparations, stating that they have all the necessary apparatus in place to ensure the smooth running
of the by-elections.
He emphasized that ballot papers have already been printed, indicating that ZEC is on top of the game.
The National Assembly by-elections will take place in various constituencies, including Beitbridge West,
Binga North, Bulawayo South, Cowdray Park, Lobengula-Magwegwe, Lupane East, Mabvuku-Tafara,
Mpopoma-Mzilikazi, and Nketa.
The political parties contesting these elections include Zanu PF, CCC, DOP, and independent candidates.
In Lobengula-Magwegwe, Zanu PF will be represented by Cde Menziwa Dube, while the CCC has fielded
two candidates, Mr Eric Gono and Mr Tendai Chitura Nyathi.
Similarly, in Bulawayo South, Zanu PF’s candidate is Raj Modi, while CCC has again put forward two candidates, Mr James Sithole and Ms Nicola Jane Watson.
