Chitungwiza Central Hospital has been stuck with 31 corpses for the past six months with no relatives to claim them.
The hospital is now considering pauper’s burials which will cost roughly ZW$400 000.
Spokesperson Audrey Tasaranarwo told ZTN that the 31 patients did not have correct identity cards.
“They couldn’t find people to bury them. We discovered that some patients come to hospital and use names that are different from the ones on their birth certificates,” she said.
“They change names because they would not want to be identified. Most of them are from Epworth suburb.”
