ICC digs in on Zim embargo

The International Cricket Council has remained firm on their decision to exclude Zimbabwe from its activities, in response to the Sports and Recreation Commission’s unpopular judgement to suspend the Zimbabwe Cricket executive.
After suspending Zimbabwe from global cricket activities, ICC has warned the country that it risks being banned if they do not reinstate the suspended executive by October 8.
“Should you wish the ICC to reconsider your suspension, you are required to take relevant steps to ensure the board of Zimbabwe Cricket elected on 14 June 2019 is unconditionally reinstated forthwith and, in any event, no later than 8 October 2019,” reads part of the communication to Zimbabwe by ICC.
SRC had suspended the Tavengwa Mukuhlani led executive on allegations of a criminal nature, but ICC warned the move was tantamount to interference, and should be reversed.
With pointers leading towards a Zimbabwe ban from global cricket, the sports commission might be forced into reversing their decision for the good of the game and the country.
