Jailed for scalding wife with hot water

A Mbare man had been jailed for two years after after he poured hot water on his wife following a misunderstanding.

Trust Simango was convicted and was slapped with three years imprisonment before one year was suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.

The remaining two years will be effective.

In the is State’s case that on April 8 at around 6pm, Simango returned home from work and asked his daughter where his wife  Sinikiwe Chakura was and was told she was in the bedroom.

He went into the bedroom and said “come here I want to talk with you.”

He became aggressive and violently dragged and pulled Chakura from the bed and started assaulting her on the head and went on to take a pot with boiling water on the stove and poured it on her stomach and legs.

He went on to threaten the woman with death.

He had denied the allegations saying the woman was burnt by mistake.
