Paris. — ZIMBABWE international striker Tino Kadewere was missing again as his French Ligue 1 side Nantes suffered a ninth successive home defeat, this time a 0-3 defeat to bitter rivals Rennes in a one-sided Brittany derby on Saturday.

Nantes collapsed in the second half and conceded the three goals after the hour mark having gone to the break goalless.

The defeat left Nantes in serious danger of relegation as the French Ligue 1 season is now just four games away from conclusion.

Kadewere, who is on loan for the remainder of the season and will move permanently if Nantes survive, missed the 1-0 win at Le Havre last weekend, having been unavailable for the 1-3 loss at home to his parent club Lyon on April 7.Although the nature of his injury has not been revealed, Kadewere was last in the Nantes line-up, as a substitute, as they beat Nice 2-1 on March 31.

Following Saturday’s humiliation, Nantes captain Pedro Chirivella called their performance ‘disgraceful’.

“That’s disgraceful. The second half we played… we were not up to it,” said Chirivella to Ligue 1 broadcaster Amazon Prime Video.

“We need to talk about it between us, about what happened in the second half. That was not normal. I apologize to all the fans who came to support us. I’m sorry, but that’s shit. We played sh…”

The former Liverpool man went on to say he could not explain how Nantes went from being relatively in control of Rennes in the first half to being completely leaky and careless in the second half.

“Maybe we tired ourselves. But every time we concede, it looks like we stop playing, and that’s not the first occurrence. I’m speechless.”

Looking at the home form, Chirivella said:

“That’s a disgrace. We’re not up to what FC Nantes stand for and not up to that Beaujoire stadium.” The Spaniard added that Nantes only have one home Ligue 1 game until the end of the season, against Champions League hopefuls Lille.

“I’m saying it every time: we’ll do our best to win it, but if we keep playing like this, we won’t win another game for five to six seasons. We need to wake up for the last one.” — GFFN/Sports Reporter.
