Zimbabwe Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic says he is better informed about the local game following his comprehensive research on the team.

The Croat was appointed Zimbabwe coach early this year but is yet to take charge of a single national team assignment due to the Coronavirus lockdown which affected major sporting activities globally.

From his research of national team footage files Logarusic concluded, “Zimbabwe is full of talent” and is now focusing on creating winning combinations.

In an exclusive interview with ZTN, the Warriors trainer opened up on what he has been up-to in the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown.

“I spent my time watching previous games of Zimbabwe. I was watching to see what we can improve, the team’s weaknesses and strengths, how our players are reacting under pressure and in enormous situations.”

“I followed all that and the news to try to have a better understanding of what is going on here,” he continued.

“Already I am better informed than what I was before. I had enough time to follow all those things and it will help me in preparation for future tournaments.”

However, the 54-year-old is increasingly becoming worried about the likely negative impact the football interruption will have on players.

“I do not know what the players will look like after these months without proper training, the weight, their ability to play the ball, what was before might have changed and we have to start afresh.

“Players are different, some adapt very quickly to return to their form and some need more time to get back to form.”

“I will have to use my experience as well as help from my assistant coaches to see who can do the job on a particular time, it will be very interesting and also a challenge,” he said.

He however challenged his players and those aspiring to play for the national team to take care of their fitness.

“They must be responsible, taking care of themselves, this is what gives them bread and butter. They need to be professional and stay fit, I hope they can take care of themselves,” Logarusic said.
