Newly appointed Zimbabwe National senior men’s soccer team coach, Zdravko Logarusic has started pressing the panic button and is tipping Ghana to be the firm favourite to qualify for the Fifa Qatar 2022 World Cup finals.

Zimbabwe is in Group G with two former world cup finalist Ghana and South Africa as well as Ethiopia who are enjoying a gradual rise in the game.

Ghana competed in three of the previous four world cup finals and will be determined to make a return to the global showpiece again.

Having coached in Ghana in his career and being a veteran of the African terrain, Logarusic is aware of the threat posed by the Black Stars.

“I could not talk as a supporter, I must talk as a coach, Ghana has many quality players who play much bigger games than against South Africa, and the rest, so in the group, Ghana is absolutely the favourite,” the Croatian was quoted as saying by Ghanaian publication Ghana Soccer Net.

“We have to fight for position number 2 because Ghana is definitely likely to finish first.”

This is likely not to go down well with the Zimbabwean supporters who are desperate to qualify for their maiden World Cup finals.

The Croat’s appointment was risky and a surprise and fears that he might not be the right man for the job might start making the rounds.

However, he is guaranteed to have a safer landing in the Warriors dugout, after he was given local coaches equally capable of taking his job to assist him.

Joey Antipas is the first assistant in a set-up that also includes, Lloyd Chitembwe and Tonderayi Ndiraya.
