Former Dynamos striker Norman Maroto has hailed Willard Katsande for playing a huge part in nurturing budding footballers.

The Willard Katsande Cup has been running for the past seven years in Mutare and Maroto says the former Warriors skipper is making the world a better place – in his own small way.

“At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished, it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back,” said Maroto.

Katsande, who has been in great form for ABSA Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs, has also helped a number of players get contracts at big teams.

Some of the players scouted at past editions of the cup include Liberty Chakoroma now at Chicken Inn, Tobacco Mvundwa now at Mutare City Rovers and Lust Jese who is on the books of Manica Diamonds.

“I salute such works of great impact to our community! Thank you Willard Katsande,” Maroto added.

The seventh edition of the cup kick off tomorrow and organising secretary

Panganai Mbaradza is looking forward to a great outing.

“We are ready for the big one,” he said.

Bright Stars from Marange are the defending champions.
