Zimbabwe’s main opposition MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa has appointed a five- member panel led by Advocate Thabani Mpofu, to supervise operations of local authorities run by the party, to ensure accountability and transparency.

Chamisa also allocated specific roles to his three vice presidents. Tendai Biti will be responsible for party policy and ideology, while Welshman Ncube will be in charge of administration and international relations. The other vice president Lynette Karenyi-Kore will oversee the party’s parliamentarians.

Spokesperson for the MDC leader, Dr Nkululeko Sibanda, told a media conference in Harare on Wednesday that the integrity and accountability panel will work to stop corruption in the councils they run.
