IN the end, it was mommy’s medal as it were!

The World Athletics Championships ended in Doha on Sunday night, with mother of two, Nia Ali of the USA a surprise winner in the women’s 100m hurdles final.

And again this was a USA show as they topped the medals table ahead of Kenya and Jamaica.

Zimbabwe had three runners in the men’s marathon on Saturday. Ngonidzashe Ncube finished 34th, Munyaradzi Jari was 47th and Isaac Mpofu 52nd, 8 minutes behind the winner.

Fifty-five competitors finished the race, while 18 failed to complete it because of heat and humidity.
