‘Mommy’s medal’

IN the end, it was mommy’s medal as it were!

The World Athletics Championships ended in Doha on Sunday night, with mother of two, Nia Ali of the USA a surprise winner in the women’s 100m hurdles final.

And again this was a USA show as they topped the medals table ahead of Kenya and Jamaica.

Zimbabwe had three runners in the men’s marathon on Saturday. Ngonidzashe Ncube finished 34^th, Munyaradzi Jari was 47^th and Isaac Mpofu 52^nd, 8 minutes behind the winner.

Fifty-five competitors finished the race, while 18 failed to complete it because of heat and humidity.
