Midlands State University are the winners of this year’s National Universities Quiz sponsored by the Swedish embassy in Zimbabwe and SAYWHAT and broadcast live on Zimpapers Television Network, ZTN.
The MSU shrugged off stiff competition from The National University of Science and Technology, (NUST) and Gwanda State University, (GSU) to lift the trophy which was being held by the Harare Institute of Technology, (HIT).
Ten state universities across the country took part in the two-day competition, which started on Monday and ended on Tuesday afternoon with three finalists, after seven were eliminated.
The quiz tested the students’ knowledge of public health issues in line with SAYWHAT’s main thrust of educating learners at tertiary education institutions about sexual reproductive health.
Speaking at the end of the competition, the director of SAYWHAT, Jimmy Wilford commended the participants and urged the losing finalists to work harder next year.
“For those who have failed to make it this year, do not despair, we will have the third edition next year,” he said.
