Zimbabwe’s Environment Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Prisca Mupfumira, who is facing corruption charges involving close to USD95 million, has arrived at the Harare Magistrate’s Court.

She was arrested by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday and spent the night at Avondale Police Station.

Mupfumira is appearing before Magistrate Munamati Mutevedzi. The State is represented by Prosecutor Michael Reza who has read out seven counts of alleged criminal abuse of office. Prosecution wants the cabinet minister to be remanded in custody for 21 days.

But, her lawyer, Charles Chinyama is arguing against her extended detention claiming she’s a high ranking public official.
