Mutizwa fires brace as Arrows beat Chiefs
ZIMBABWEAN striker, Knox Mutizwa was voted Man of the Match after he fired in a brace as Lamontville Golden Arrows came from behind to overcome Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 in a DStv Premiership match played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane yesterday.
Mutizwa was on target in the 69th and 78th minutes to give Arrows the three points.
Abafana Bes’thende had fallen behind twice in the match, first when Sifiso Hlanti opened the scoring for Amakhosi in the eighth minute with a header from a Keagan Dolly corner kick.
Ntsako Neverdie Makhubela equalised for the KwaZulu-Natal based Arrows just before the break from close range only for Mduduzi Tshabalala to put Chiefs in front once again two minutes into the second stanza.
Mutizwa levelled matters with 21 minutes left when he riffled from inside the box and completed his brace 12 minutes before the final whistle to break the Chiefs hearts. Arrows are 10th on the log with 25 points, picked from seven wins and four draws while they have suffered 10 defeats in the 20 matches they have played so far.
It was the eighth defeat of the season for Chiefs who are fifth with 28 points and trail log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 27 points.
The Zimbabwean striker continues to extend his record as the all-time leading goal scorer for Arrows with 54 goals in all competitions for Abafana Bes’thende.
Mutizwa has five goals and the same number of assists for Arrows in the DStv Premiership this season.
On February 11, Mutizwa scored in extra time to give Arrows a 2-1 win over Pretoria Callies in a Nedbank Cup round of 32 fixture played at Princess Magogo Stadium. Mutizwa won the Man of the Match in that encounter.
Another Zimbabwean, Terrence Dzvukamanja was on target for Orlando Pirates, the Buccaneers 2-1 victorious over Maritzburg United at Orlando Stadium. The win saw the third placed Sea Robbers move to 31 points, two behind second positioned SuperSport United.
