RAFAEL Nadal believes a good start always sets him for a better tournament.

The World number one was speaking after his victory over Bolivia’s Hugo Dellien in the Australian Open second round in Melbourne.

“For me personally it has been a very positive start. What you want is to win in the first round and, if you can do it in straight sets, even better,” Nadal was quoted as saying by the BBC.

Nadal, who was the last champion at Melbourne in 2009, won 6-2 6-3 6-0 over the 72nd-ranked Hugo.

His run at the Australian Open means he is in the picture to equal Roger Federer’s record of 20 Grand Slam men’s singles titles.

After the win, he will now play either Federico Delbonis or Joao Sousa.
