Marry Mubaiwa , the wife of Zimbabwe’s vice president Constantino Chiwenga will continue to languish behind bars after her appeal for bail was postponed to next Tuesday by the High Court.

Mubaiwa, who has been in remand prison for 14 days , is accused of trying to kill the vice-president while he was in hospital in South Africa earlier this year.

She is also facing foreign currency externalisation, money-laundering and fraud charges.

Mubaiwa’s lawyer Taona Nyamakura said the case was postponed because the judge did not have a record of the bail application to determine whether a magistrate misdirected himself in denying bail.

“The state has been ordered to respond to our application by 11.00am on Monday and the matter will be heard at 9.00 am on Tuesday,” Nyamakura said.
