The Zimbabwe Government says it will enforce a “no work, no pay” policy following reports that some school teachers are not reporting for duty.

Government and teachers are locked in a salary dispute, with the latter demanding a 100 percent increment and the former offering 75 percent staggered over three months.

To that end, teachers are now reporting to work only twice a week.

Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said: “Cabinet was informed that the number of teachers reporting for duty had decreased. It is further noted that some of those reporting for duty are not teaching.”

She added; “Cabinet wishes to reiterate that negotiations for improved conditions of service remain open under the National Joint Negotiating Council and that the no work, no pay policy will be strictly enforced.”
