Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa is in Maputo to attend a Sadc Extraordinary Double Troika Summit on the security situation in northern Mozambique.
Terrorist activities have heightened in Mozambique, with Palma – a coastal town in Cabo Delgado Province – the latest target.
The Double Troika comprises Mozambique, the current Sadc Chair; Malawi (incoming Chair) and Tanzania (immediate past Chair).
It also has members of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation: Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
The Summit is Sadc’s highest policy-making body.
