Samson leaves a mark

ZIMBABWE’S Sensei Samson Muripo was crowned champion in the veterans’ category at the Kyokushin Karate World Cup in Moscow on Sunday.

The 6^th edition of the tournament was held in the Russian capital on October 5^th and 6^th.

Muripo’s achievement was a demonstration of the great strides that have been made in the sport over the years.

Other members of team Zimbabwe, Naison Chituwa and Grace Chirumanzu, failed to make the trip as a result of lack of funding.

The country’s karatekas have, over the past few years, done well in spite of the meager resources at their disposal.
