Stepson Kills Dad, Goes Into Hiding

An 18-year-old man from Charandura, a village in Zimbabwe’s Midlands province allegedly killed his stepfather who had chased him away from his homestead. Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to ZTN.
“Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms investigating a murder which occurred in Charandura where Vinord Hotera a 45-year-old man died on the spot after he was stabbed on the chest by his stepson Aken Nyathi, a male aged 18 years. The matter occurred on 19 February 2022 at about 2030 hours under Chief Hama, Charandura area.”
According to police sources, a misunderstanding arose between the two when Hotera chased away his stepson saying he no longer wanted to stay with him. Nyathi went away and returned that same night and stabbed Hotera on the chest, killing him instantly.
“Police appeal to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact any nearest police station. Once again we urge people to always respect the sanctity of human life and resolve disputes peacefully,” said Inspector Mahoko
